Basic Skills Agency - "Our aim is to help people of all ages who struggle with words and numbers in their everyday lives".

The Big Plus - The campaign, which forms part of the Scottish literacy and numeracy strategy, has been designed to encourage those adults in Scotland who need help with reading, writing and numbers to access local support. Please use our contact us page if you would like more information. The Big Plus is funded by Learning Connections and is supported by learndirect Scotland.

Communities Scotland - "is a Scottish Executive agency. Our aim is to work with others to ensure decent housing and strong communities across Scotland."

Consumer Education - "The Generation Europe Foundation has launched a new initiative, supported by the European Commission’s DG Health & Consumer Protection (DG Sanco), to educate young people about consumer affairs. The cornerstone of the Europe-wide effort is the Europa Diary: Wise Choices? – an agenda for the school year 2004/2005 that students aged 15-18 can use in class." These are free dowloadable pdf worksheets or online activities that can be used with your adult learners.

Department for Education and Science Embedded Learning Portal - "Embedded teaching and learning combines the development of literacy, language and numeracy with vocational and other skills. The skills acquired provide learners with the confidence, competence and motivation necessary for them to progress, gain qualifications and to succeed in life and at work".

Europass - Europass consists of five documents:

two documents (Europass curriculum vitae (CV) and Europass Language Passport) you can fill in yourself; and
three other documents (Europass Certificate Supplement, Europass Diploma Supplement and Europass Mobility) filled in and issued by competent organisations.

The New Curiosity Shop - "The aim of the New Curiosity Shop is to provide high quality online courses in a wide range of topics. At the New Curiosity Shop we encourage learning for the pleasure of learning, and our short courses are designed to stimulate thinking, provoke questions and provide opportunities for our students to explore ideas. Each course is written for the New Curiosity Shop by the tutor, who is not only an experienced teacher but also an expert in the subject. We encourage Internet users from all over the world to become active learners at the New Curiosity Shop, working with the tutors and their fellow students." There is a charge for these courses. The New Curiosity Shop is part of Newbattle Abbey.

The pack is designed to be used by adult basic skills tutors and can be used either as a stand alone resource or in conjunction with the printed version."
